International Webinar Jointly organized by the University of Nairobi (Dept. of History & Archaeology, Kenya-India Friendship Association (KIFA) & India High Commission (Nairobi).
Never before, in the history of East Africa, has an institution been a product of efforts by so many people, in so many ways, like the University of Nairobi was in its nascent years in the 1950s. The Government then, the Asian Community (Indians), international organizations, and countries contributed resources in the construction of what would become the University of Nairobi in 1970.
As part of the continued celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of our University, the Department of History and Archaeology (University of Nairobi) jointly with the Kenya-India Friendship Association (KIFA) and High Commission of India (Nairobi) have organized a high level International Webinar to acknowledge and celebrate the members of the Asian Community who sacrificially contributed to the development of our institution.
The theme of the Webinar will be "UoN@50): An Epitome of Philanthropy." The Webinar will take place on Thursday, March 4th, 2021 at 3 P.M. East African time. The Keynote speaker will be Mr. Sharad Rao, EBS, the former Chairman of the Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board, with brief remarks from the Indian High Commissioner, a few dignitaries and we will have an opening address by the Vice Chancellor, University of Nairobi, Prof. Stephen Gitahi Kiama. The audience will be, mainly, members of the families which gave their contributions towards the development of the University, Chairs of various Foundations, Indian High Commissioner, colleagues from the United States, Canada and UK, students and members of the University of Nairobi community.
On behalf of the organizers, I specially and kindly invite you to this Webinar.
